The Collection of Museums by The Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. house some of the most amazing exhibits that are worth seeing and learning about. There are over 5200 objects to observe with 1400 new objects being added within 23 Galleries in the building.
Located on the National Mall, the museum is home to an impressive collection of artifacts that range from the Wright Brothers' first airplane to the Apollo 11 command module that carried Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon. The museum features a range of exhibits that cover the history of aviation, space travel, and planetary exploration, as well as the science and technology behind these achievements.
You'll enjoy the many Discovery Stations, Observatory, Demonstrations, Simulators, Story Times, and Tours.
A detailed history of Space Exploration, Early Navigation, Satellites, the construction of the International Space Station, amongst other things you'll see and experience here. This is a very "hands on" museum. You'll have the opportunity to touch many of the objects displayed that are not behind glass.
Viewing the model of The International Space Station was one of my favorite exhibits. It took many launches into Space by numerous countries to send the materials to build this phenomenal structure above the Earth.
The museum's space exhibits are equally impressive, with highlights including the Apollo 11 command module, the lunar module used during the Apollo missions, and space suits worn by astronauts. Visitors can also learn about the history of space exploration, including the early missions to the moon, the Space Shuttle program, and the International Space Station.
It was amazing to see how the technology has evolved since the early Missions like the Apollo Project in the 1960's. Ever wonder how Astronauts go to the bathroom in Space? Check this out:
One of the popular Exhibits in the Museum is the "How do things Fly?" It's extremely informative because of the multitude of things that need to be in place for flight to occur.
