Event Description
Harlem of the West: Jazz, Bebop & Beatnik celebrates the heart of west coast music: San Francisco's Fillmore district. During the 40's through the early 60's the Fillmore district was home to 19 black owned clubs in a 20 square block area. Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong and Charlie Parker were just a few of the big talents to add their voices to the culture. This collection displays photos and memoribilia

I attended this exhibit today. It was very interesting. Many of the Artists that were in the jazz circuit (harlem) would hang in San Fransico when they were on the West Coast. I liked the photos mixed with the original artworks. I recommend a visit to this exhibit just because the fashion for that era was amazing we looked very classy and with the jazz.........perfect. Great Exhibit.
