FEATURED ARTIST: ALICE PATRICK

I had the pleasure in my 20's to be introduced to Artist and Sculptress and now Author -ALICE PATRICK.I was working at a local Comic Book Shop in Los Angeles-Near USC and this place was a small shop but it attracted Artists like Alice to display their Artistic works. I remember seeing a small statue or sculpture of four (4) Mature Black Women sitting on a bench together. Even though it was small enough to fit in both of your hands, Alice put so much detail into this piece,she created a powerful reminder of the STRENGTH AND FORTITUDE of Black Women. For me personally, the images of the women made me think of the strong women around me including my Mother and Grandmother, Aunts,etc. I was grateful that someone captured the image. I would soon meet the the Artist who created this significant work. I got a chance to learn about some of the other types of mediums she enjoys working in. I learned that she's quite a skilled illustrator and painter (this is usually a prerequisite to sculpting)Her famous Statue would eventually make it to a mural immortalized in Los Angeles as a part of the SPARC Community Mural Program. As an Artist, Alice Patrick has a great range of skill across different mediums which all show a high degree of talent that has been showcased for decades.
